About Profile Building & Pest Inspections
From your Building and Pest Inspector Greg Palmer.
I started out by completing a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship with Master Builders Qld from 1992 to 1996.
I then went on to partner up with one of my apprenticeship colleagues to perform contract carpentry work around the Gold Coast.
Most of this time was building modern and traditional Queenslander style homes.
I took a gap year in 2001/02 and travelled to a Whistler in Canada where in between skiing and snowboarding I worked on building luxury log cabin homes.
After returning home to the Gold Coast in 2002 I went back into contract carpentry work while also attending Gold Coast TAFE where I spent two years completing and obtaining my Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building).
From 2005 until 2016 I starting working as a building supervisor and went on to be the construction manager with one of Queensland’s leading home builders. During this time I oversaw the construction and delivery of over 400 homes sometimes supervising up to 15 homes at a time.
In 2006 I realised a long term goal and gained my QBCC builders licence.
In the following years I completed a few of my own high end building projects on the side while still working as a building supervisor.
In 2017 I started full time work as a Building and Pest Inspector.
The requirements I had to gain prior to that included:
Residential Building Inspectors course with Master Builders Queensland

From the start of 2017 to current date, I have performed over 4000 Building and Pest Inspections averaging 12-15 inspections per week.

The bigger inspection companies may use part time contractors or employees to do the building and/or pest inspections in which case I believe there maybe less personal drive to do the best job possible.
This is not always the case. I have been employed as a Building and Pest Inspector where I realised that some inspectors are very good and some are less committed.
